The “D” officially stands for Dimension. When the site was launched in 1996, and for several years, it was known as Dimension Music. Over the years, however, the “D” has come to be more commonly associated with the word digital, since DMusic has long since evolved into an independent music community, and the music is in digital form. ...hence the slogan, "The independent digital music community."
