How do I upload my music?

Uploading music : New artist or band

As a registered member of the DMusic community, you may upload your original recordings. Uploading your music is a process that we have tried to make as easy as possible. You'll need two things to start with:

* A 100x100 picture of you or your band;
* An original recording to upload. The file should be in the standard mp3 format, no larger than 12mb in size.

Step 1

Click on the 'Music' tab toward the top of the page, then click the image that says "not a member yet? click here to sign up!" - Or get there by pasting into your browser: http://artists.dmusic.com/signup/

On that page you’ll see the words, “Thank you for submitting your music to DMusic. Before you can get started, make sure your email address is valid. It should be the same email address listed in your member settings. Otherwise, your artist account may not be configured properly. Once that's verified, just click the link and you can continue with the submission process.”

Verify your email address, or type it in, and click “Continue.”

Step 2
Accept the DMusic’s license agreement by clicking “I Agree” at the bottom of the screen. After carefully reading the license, that is.

Step 3
We will now need to know the following information:

* Artist or band name (up to 50 characters);
* A subdomain name (short name, up to 20 characters). This is the name which will be used for the address of your subdomain here at DMusic (shortname.dmusic.com). The only characters you can use in the short name are letters, numbers, and hyphen). No spaces;
* Genre of music that you play;
* An image sized 100x100 pixels to represent you or your band. No spaces in the filename.

Fill in the necessary information, then click “Continue.” You’re nearly there.

Step 4
Now all you need to do is upload some music! Remember, the files must be standard mp3’s. It is best that the file be a standard MPEG 1.0 mp3, encoded in stereo, with a constant bitrate (CBR), 16-bit resolution, and at 44khz sample rate.

Files can take a while to upload, especially if you connect to the internet through a dial-up modem. Additionally, browsers do not show any progress when uploading through forms, so each mp3 must be submitted one at a time. It takes about 10 minutes to upload a 3-megabyte file with a 56k modem, so if you don't have a broadband connection you may want to get a cup of coffee or watch TV while each file is uploading.
Note: It takes a few minutes for the server to make a lo-fi version and to copy it to the back-up servers. Trying to stream your music immediately after uploading will delay the process. Give it about 5 to 10 minutes to do its work. Then you will be all set.

Important note: All music uploaded to the DMusic servers must be original recordings created or controlled by the person uploading that music, or have the permission of the copyright owner. Failure to adhere to this policy may result in your artist account being deleted, and user account being disabled. This is in addition to whatever action the copyright holder may wish to bring.

Uploading music:Registered artist

If you’ve already got an mp3 file uploaded to our servers, you may wish to upload additional tracks.

Step 1
Simply log in to DMusic and click on the "My DMusic" tab. Click "Artist Edit" in the middle of the red bar, or "Edit your artist account" in the right column.

Step 2
This will take your main artist edit page. Click on the tab that says "file manager"

Step 3
In the next screen, click on "Upload files."

Creating or choosing a previously created folder is optional, but you’ll definitely want to let your listeners know the genre and title of your track. You’ll also need to tell our servers what file it is you wish to upload. If you need to find it on your hard drive, the "Browse" will help you locate it. Remember, filenames CAN NOT contain spaces. Use the format “my_file.mp3” rather than “my file.mp3.” The song “Title” may indeed contain spaces. When all the necessary fields are filled, click “Add File” and wait patiently until your upload is complete.
